See What Teens Are Saying

Real reactions. Real impact.

Watch how teens engage with the Just Drive Simulator and experience firsthand how quickly distraction can lead to a crash. From the moment they step in, students are fully immersed in realistic scenarios that demand their attention and decision-making. This isn’t just something they hear about—it’s something they actively experience, creating a deeper level of awareness from the very start.

As participants move through the simulator, their reactions tell the story. They come face-to-face with the consequences of distraction in a way that feels immediate and real. The experience captures attention in a way traditional methods can’t, sparking authentic reactions and meaningful conversations that continue beyond the moment itself.

The Just Drive Simulator brings the risks of distracted driving into sharp focus through immersive, hands-on learning. Participants don’t just absorb information—they internalize it. What begins as engagement quickly becomes understanding, and that understanding leads to more thoughtful, intentional choices behind the wheel.

Virtual Reality Scenarios

All three immersive scenarios—Daytime Highway, Nighttime Rural Road, and School Drop-Off—are included with every Just Drive Simulator at no additional cost. Each environment is designed to reflect real-world driving conditions where distraction can quickly become dangerous. Together, they offer a well-rounded experience that highlights how risk can appear in different settings and situations. We are continually working to enhance and expand our scenarios to keep the experience relevant, impactful, and engaging.

Daytime Highway

Highway driving demands full attention, but it’s often where drivers feel most tempted to multitask. Experience a typical highway drive that reminds us there’s no “safe” moment to look away.

Nighttime Rural

Low visibility. Unexpected curves. Unsafe decisions. It’s a reminder of the role passengers play, not only in their potential to distract the driver, but in their ability to prevent a crash.

School Drop-Off

A routine school drop-off turns tragic when everyday distractions go unchecked. Watch how one distracted driver causes a deadly chain reaction.

What to Know Before You Step Inside

Welcome and Orientation Pre-Survey Choose & Experience Your Scenario Post-Survey Reflection Learn & Commit Final Safety Message About The Kiefer Foundation

Welcome and Orientation

Meet your virtual safety emcee, who will guide you through the experience and explain what to expect. This introduction is designed to help you feel comfortable, confident, and prepared before entering the simulation. Your emcee will walk you through how the experience works, what you’ll encounter, and how to navigate each step along the way.

More importantly, this moment sets the tone for why this experience matters. You’ll be reminded that every person has a role to play in keeping our roads safe, not just drivers, but passengers too. If something feels unsafe, you have both the right and the responsibility to speak up. This experience is about awareness, empowerment, and making choices that can help prevent crashes and save lives.

Pre-Survey

Answer a few quick questions to capture your current driving habits and how you perceive distraction risk. Before entering the simulation, you’ll complete a brief pre-survey made up of five questions, each pulled from a larger question bank designed to assess areas like risk perception, avoidance behaviors, bystander willingness, attitudes, and fact-based knowledge.

The same five questions will appear again after your experience, allowing you to reflect on how your perspectives may shift. Because questions are randomly selected, each session may present a slightly different set, helping to build a more complete picture over time.

Choose & Experience Your Scenario

Select from one of three immersive environments—Daytime Highway, Nighttime Rural Road, or School Drop-Off—and step into the moments leading up to a distracted driving crash. Each scenario places you behind the wheel in a realistic setting where everyday distractions begin to compete for your attention.

As the experience unfolds, you’ll see how quickly a momentary lapse in focus can escalate into a life-changing event. After the crash, you’ll have the opportunity to rewind and explore how different choices could have changed the outcome. This hands-on experience is designed to move beyond awareness and create a lasting impression, helping you recognize risks in real time and understand the impact of the decisions you make behind the wheel.

Post-Survey Reflection

After completing the scenario, you’ll take a short post-survey to process how the experience impacted your mindset, behaviors, and willingness to speak up as a passenger. This survey includes the same five questions you answered before the simulation, giving you the opportunity to reflect on any changes in your perspective.

By comparing your responses, you can see how your understanding of risk, your habits, and your attitudes may have shifted in just a short amount of time. This moment of reflection is a key part of the experience, helping to turn what you saw and felt into something more meaningful and personal.

Learn & Commit

Explore distracted driving statistics and sign the Just Drive Pledge to commit to safer, more focused driving. After experiencing the simulation, this step reinforces what you’ve seen with real-world data that highlights the true impact of distraction on our roads.

You’ll gain a deeper understanding of how common distracted driving is, how quickly it can lead to a crash, and the consequences that follow. This added context helps connect the experience to real-life situations happening every day.

You’ll then be invited to take the Just Drive Pledge, making a personal commitment to stay focused, avoid distractions, and speak up when something feels unsafe. This moment is about turning awareness into action and choosing to be part of the solution.

Final Safety Message

Your emcee closes with a reminder that you hold the power to prevent crashes—every time you choose to Just Drive. This final moment reinforces the key message that safe driving is a choice, and one that has the ability to protect not only your life, but the lives of everyone around you.

It’s a powerful conclusion that ties together everything you’ve experienced, from awareness to reflection to action. You’ll leave with a clear understanding that distraction is preventable and that small decisions behind the wheel can have lasting consequences.

The message is simple, but meaningful: stay focused, stay present, and always choose to Just Drive.

Measure the Impact. Strengthen the Mission.

Take a tour of the Just Drive Data Dashboard and see the real impact of your efforts in action. Included at no additional cost with every Just Drive Simulator, the dashboard gives you access to meaningful, easy-to-understand metrics that help tell your story and demonstrate outcomes.

Whether you’re reporting on a grant, evaluating program effectiveness, or simply tracking engagement in the field, the dashboard serves as your central hub for performance insights. Monitor key data points like total headsets managed, number of sessions completed, total playtime, and average session duration. You can also track participant engagement through completed pledges and see how often crashes occur across each scenario.

Dive deeper into pre- and post-survey results to better understand shifts in awareness, attitudes, and behaviors. When you need to share results, export custom CSV reports to support presentations, reporting, or stakeholder updates. This is more than just data—it’s a powerful tool to measure progress, prove impact, and drive meaningful change.

Inside the Pre- and Post-Survey Experience

Designed to Measure Awareness, Attitudes, and Behavior Shift

The Just Drive pre- and post-survey process is designed to capture how participants think about distracted driving before and after the simulation experience. Each user receives five questions total, with one question pulled from each of five key topic areas: risk perception, risk avoidance behaviors, bystander willingness and behavior change readiness, attitudinal perceptions, and fact-based knowledge.

The same five questions presented in the pre-survey are repeated in the post-survey, creating a direct opportunity to measure reflection and potential mindset shift after the experience. Because each question is drawn from a larger bank, participants may receive a different combination of questions each time the simulator is used, helping create a broader picture of engagement over time.

Explore the accordion sections to see the types of questions included in each category and how the survey is built to support meaningful learning, evaluation, and impact measurement.
