Student filmmakers Evangeline M., Brookelyn B., and Arianna M. of Careerline Tech Center, first-place winners in the 2026 Courageous Persuaders Distracted Driving category presented by The National Road Safety Foundation, created the public service announcement, “Case Closed.”

Through a creative mystery-themed concept, the video connects several common distractions behind the wheel, including eating, cell phone use, applying makeup, and passengers. No matter the distraction, each one can take a driver’s attention away from the road and lead to devastating consequences.

Congratulations to Evangeline, Brookelyn, and Arianna on this well-deserved recognition and for reminding drivers that the case against distracted driving is clear.

No one’s safety should depend on whether their state has taken action against distracted driving.

Hands-free laws establish a clear and consistent expectation: drivers should not be using a phone while operating a vehicle. The data shows that states with these laws in place are seeing better safety outcomes, including fewer crashes and fatalities.

Progress is being made across the country, but the work is not finished. Every state deserves laws that put roadway safety first.

This photo of Steve and Mitchel captures a father-son moment in the classroom, where so many important lessons begin. But some lessons are taught outside of school, including the ones kids learn by watching the adults behind the wheel.

Every drive is an opportunity to show the next generation what safe, focused driving looks like. Put the phone away, keep your attention on the road, and model the habits you want them to carry forward.

The road is a classroom, too. Teach them to Just Drive.

Conversations about safe driving matter, but the example parents set can leave an even greater impression.

Consistently choosing to drive without distractions helps reinforce the habits teens will need when they are eventually behind the wheel themselves.

Your actions can help prepare them to become safer, more responsible drivers. Make every drive count.

Student filmmakers Abby S. and Lukas S. of Lake Shore High School, winners of the 2026 Courageous Persuaders Don’t Engage in Road Rage Award presented by The National Road Safety Foundation, created the powerful public service announcement, “Sonder.”

The video encourages drivers to look beyond a moment of frustration and remember that their choices affect everyone sharing the road. By leading with empathy instead of anger, we can help prevent unnecessary escalation.

Congratulations to Abby S. and Lukas S. on this well-deserved recognition and for encouraging drivers to see one another with greater patience and understanding.
