Distracted driving remains one of the most preventable threats on our roadways, and one moment of inattention can change lives forever.

Tune in to Michigan Matters on Sunday, June 21st, as The Kiefer Foundation shares how education, technology, and personal responsibility can help create safer roads and prevent distracted driving crashes.

We`re grateful for the opportunity to continue this important conversation and raise awareness about the choices that keep drivers, passengers, and communities safe.

Summer holds some of the best memories a kid can make. A happy moment, a yummy treat, a night to remember. Mitchel had so many of these, and he should have had so many more. Stay focused. Just drive.

At least nine people die every day in the U.S. because of distracted driving. Every one of those crashes was preventable.

The Just Drive Simulator gives users a way to experience the real-world consequences of distracted driving without the real-world risk. Three immersive virtual reality scenarios, Daytime Highway, Nighttime Rural Road, and School Drop-Off, each designed to reflect real driving conditions where distraction quickly becomes dangerous.

Built for educators, prevention specialists, safety advocates, and anyone working to change behavior on our roads, the Just Drive Simulator turns awareness into action. It`s an experience designed to spark conversation, shift behavior, and ultimately save lives.

"I didn`t mean to" is one of the most common things said after a crash. But intentions don`t change outcomes.

The road doesn`t respond to what you meant to do. It responds to the choices you make behind the wheel. Put the phone down. Speak up if you don’t feel safe. Just drive.

What if the 100 Deadliest Days became the 100 safest? It starts with the choices you make before you ever put the car in drive.

From Memorial Day to Labor Day, crashes spike, teen driver fatalities surge, and the consequences of a single distracted moment can last a lifetime. But every one of these crashes is preventable. It comes down to the choices we make behind the wheel.

This summer, commit to the five that save lives:
πŸš— Stay alert. Drowsy driving is deadly driving.
πŸ“΅ Don`t drive distracted. The text, the post, the playlist can wait.
🐒 Slow down. Speed reduces your reaction time and increases crash severity.
🍺 Drive sober. Never get behind the wheel impaired, and never ride with someone who is.
πŸ”’ Buckle up. Every seat. Every trip. Every time.

Parents and caregivers, your example sets the standard. Teens, your decisions protect everyone in the car and everyone you share the road with. Let`s reframe what these next three months can be. The 100 Deadliest Days don`t have to be deadly. Together, we can make them the #100SafestDaysOfSummer.

🚴 May is National Bike Safety Month β€” and with warmer weather bringing more cyclists onto the roads, the stakes are higher than ever.

Behind every cyclist is a cherished life. A child riding to school. A parent commuting home. A friend out for a weekend ride. In a single moment, distraction or misjudgment can change everything. For drivers, that may be one glance at a phone or failure to yield. For cyclists, it may be trusting that a driver sees you when they do not.

Drivers: put the phone down. Look twice. Give space.
Cyclists: stay visible. Stay alert. Ride defensively and assume you haven’t been seen.
