Student filmmakers Tyler D. and Alex L. of Lake Shore High School created “Don’t You Remember?”, a powerful public service announcement about the lasting consequences of impaired driving. Their video received the Lindsey Renee Cianciolo Family Memorial Fund Award in the 2026 Courageous Persuaders competition, presented by The National Road Safety Foundation.

One decision can change a life forever. Driving while impaired or distracted can leave families and friends grieving someone they love. Choosing to drive sober and stay focused protects everyone who shares the road.

Congratulations to Tyler D. and Alex L. on this well-deserved recognition and for reminding us that every life is irreplaceable. Every drive calls for our full attention and care.

So many of our favorite memories have Mitchel right in the middle of them, surrounded by his family and being completely himself. We miss his smile, his humor, and his loving heart every day.

His video received the College for Creative Studies Summer Certificate in the 2026 Courageous Persuaders competition, presented by The National Road Safety Foundation.

Life is fragile, and the choices we make behind the wheel can change everything in an instant. Distraction can impair a driver’s ability to respond to danger, just as alcohol or drugs can. Driving sober and staying focused protects everyone who shares the road.

Mitchel’s fun-loving personality was impossible to miss. He was a loving brother, son, and friend who filled everyday moments with laughter, and he had an entire lifetime of memories still ahead of him.

At 18 years old, not long after this photo was taken, Mitchel was killed by a distracted driver. His family is left without the birthdays, adventures, celebrations, and ordinary days they should still be sharing with him.

Every time we tell Mitchel’s story, we hope it inspires someone to make a safer choice behind the wheel. Keep your eyes on the road and give driving your full attention. Just Drive.
